'Divorce is not an option': Khloe Kardashian defends her corner as she puts reality TV career on hold for sake of her marriage
She has put her reality TV show on hold for the sake of husband Lamar Odom’s basketball career.
But it seems Khloe Kardashian also feared if she didn’t, it could spell the end of her marriage.
The 27-year-old explained her decision to take a break from the couple’s hit E! show Khloe & Lamar, stating: ‘Divorce is not an option.’
She told People Magazine: ‘We just wanted to prioritise a little; we just wanted a little pause. Part of being married is knowing when your husband needs your support.’
Khloe and her beau will still appear on the brood’s main programme, Keeping Up With Kardashians, although reportedly they will significantly limit their time on the show.
However Khloe is relieved for the hiatus of her spin-off show, telling the magazine: ‘There’s less pressure on us.’
And as the pressure built up, Khloe was aware it could start to damage their relationship.
She admitted: ‘I'm a modern girl, but you should put your husband first. I like to think divorce is not an option.’
On Monday the reality star had spoken out amid rumours she was quitting the show, insisting that while she and Lamar will be taking a much-needed break, she has no plans to leave Khloe & Lamar behind for good.
'Our show is not cancelled,' she said during an interview on Entertainment Tonight.
'Lamar and I have chosen to take a break this summer. We've been on a whirlwind and doing back to back shows, so we just want to take a little time off for Lamar to be with family... kids, basketball, Olympics, you never know. So, we have a lot on our plate right now.'
Lamar, 32, added that the couple would go back on air when they are ready.
'We just want to be happy,' he said. 'We’ll take our time and we’ll get back to it when it’s time.'
Later Khloe and Lamar put on a display of solidarity, posing arm in arm as they joined their famous clan to promote the new series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians at the E! Upfront event in New York.
According to TMZ.com, Lamar is keen to revive his playing career, after he was put on the Dallas Mavericks 'inactive list' following a less than successful season.
A source told RadarOnline.com that Lamar thought the show was not helping his sports career.
'Lamar felt that being on the show hurt his prospects of being signed with another NBA team because he was so unhappy on recent episodes of the show when he was traded to Dallas,' the source said.
'This season on Khloe and Lamar's reality show viewers have watched Lamar sulk and complain about how the Los Angeles Lakers traded him and his inability to find his groove with his new teammates.'
Lamar released a statement earlier this month when the news of his Dallas departure was announced, which read: 'The Mavericks and I have mutually agreed that it's in the best interest of both parties for me to step away from the team.
'I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs' organisation, my team mates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defence of their championship.'
The sportsman, who now lives in Los Angeles full-time with Khloe, has hired a trainer in a bid to improve his skills on the court.
It is believed he is hoping to be traded from the Mavericks once the basketball season draws to a close.
